Latest News (*updated 3-14-2005)

The 10th Annual North Carolina Wild Game Cook-off will be  held on Saturday, March 19, 2005 10:00am - 5:00pm. There will be new information posted here regularly, so check back frequently to see what's going on! Click to print or download an informative Press Release.

This year, the hours for the 10th Annual Cook-Off have been extended so that everyone will have more opportunity to enjoy the various events, exhibits, vendors and activities. Cooks will prepare wild game dishes on-site in the categories of “fur, fin or fowl” and compete for prizes!

However, there's a lot more than just a cooking contest going on! We will again feature top-notch bluegrass and gospel musical entertainment, archery and target ranges for older kids, arts and crafts, educational exhibits, demonstrations and exhibits by suppliers and outfitters for the outdoor enthusiast, as well as fun activities for kids such as youth bait-casting contests, a rock-climbing wall, bluebird box building and hayrides for younger kids.

The prizes this year for the top cooks are outstanding. The First Place Winner will receive $500.00, Second Place $300.00 and Third Place $100.00!!! To print a cook-entry form click here or download a PDF version right-click here.

The money raised during this event is used to support a full year of activities and programs for our area youth, such as "Take a Kid Fishing Day", camping, boating and hunter safety classes, summer camps and canoe trips, archery, and bluebird and duck box building days. To fund these programs we rely solely on member dues, charitable donations, and fund-raising events. It's only the support of our sponsors and the people of our community that enables us to be successful with our programs.

Through the years this event has evolved into a "sportsman's festival" that’s a lot of fun for the whole family! We invite you and your family to join us March 19th at Lake Waccamaw!
